Homework Policy 2019-20

Homework varies by teacher.  Please check your child's agenda daily to stay informed of their assignments.

Homework Policy: In order to better utilize homework as an effective tool to reinforce information learned in class, the following policy applies to all students.

•   Homework in grades 1 – 5 will be assigned four times a week, Monday through Thursday.  Homework is not assigned on Friday, except for long-term reports or special projects.

Third Grade                    30 minutes                     Daily  (M-TH)      Multiplication Facts
                                                                                                                Reading
                                                                                                                Math

Students are encouraged to complete homework independently, with minimal help from parents.
•   Homework assignments will be reviewed, but not given a letter grade, except for long-term projects.
•   Homework will be recorded on the report card under “Study Skills.”
•   Two incomplete homework assignments will equal a “2” in Completes Homework under “Study Skills.”
•   Four incomplete homework assignments will equal a “3” in Completes Homework under “Study Skills.”  A “3” on the report card will result in a loss of academic awards during that quarter.
•   Students are responsible for recording homework assignments in their agenda book (grades 1-5).
•   Students are responsible for turning in homework to their teacher on the morning of its due date.

•   Homework will not be assigned on the evening(s) before standardized tests are given.
•   Children who are absent will be given their missed homework and class work upon returning back to school for makeup.

MAKE UP WORK WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED PRIOR TO THE ABSENCE without 10 days written notice pre-approved by Administration.

The front office will not deliver homework to your class (or interrupt class).  It will be placed in the teacher’s mail box for the following day.

READ! READ!  READ!  Students are expected to read daily for a min. of 20 minutes.

Your child will be provided with a reading log by their teacher (if they are using one this school year.)
